SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

WHAT ARE THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS?
To watch videos on thegnomonworkshop.com you must be connected to the Internet. Our player will adjust the quality of video to its assessment of your internet speed. If the player determines that you have a slower speed, it will not stream high definition quality video to you, even if the video is available in HD.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Safari 6 or later, Google Chrome 11 or later, Firefox 30or later, Internet Explorer 9 or later
  • Mac OS 10.8 or later, Windows 7 SP1 or later
  • Broadband connection of 1 Mbps or greater

Recommended settings for full site:

  • Safari 8 or later, Google Chrome 41 or later, Firefox 35or later, Internet Explorer 11 or later
  • Mac OS 10.10 or later, Windows 8.1 or later
  • Broadband connection of 3 mbps or greater

Recommended settings for mobile site:

  • Default Mobile Safari or Android browser
  • iOS 7.0+ or Android 2.3+

SUBSCRIPTION AND BILLING

HOW LONG DOES THE FREE SUBSCRIPTION TRIAL LAST?
3 days
WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE 4TH DAY, ONCE THE FREE TRIAL WILL BE OVER?
On 4th day, you'll be charged for the subscription and put on a paid subscription plan
HOW DO I CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION?
If you no longer need your subscription, it’s easy to cancel it. Cancelling stops the recurring payments, but the subscription remains active until it reaches its expiry date. For example, if you purchase a monthly subscription and then choose to cancel it after 15 days, the subscription will remain active until the end of the month period. It’s important that you cancel your subscription at least three days before the renewal date, to avoid being charged for the next billing cycle. You can cancel your subscription anytime by editing your “SUBSCRIPTION” in the Account Settings.
DO I HAVE ACCESS TO EVERYTHING?
Yes, all members can watch every tutorial currently available in the library
ARE THERE ANY LIMITS TO HOW MUCH I CAN WATCH?
Nope! You have unlimited access to over 300 tutorials!
ARE YOUR TUTORIALS DOWNLOADABLE?
No. The Gnomon Workshop library streams content via the library’s integrated player.
WHAT KIND OF BANDWIDTH DOES YOU SERVICE REQUIRE?
Our tutorials are streamed at the optimal speed for your internet connection, however, broadband does provide the best viewing.
HOW DO THE PROJECT FILES WORK? CAN I DOWNLOAD THEM?
Project Files are often provided to help you practice a lesson or to deconstruct an instructor's workflow. When available, Project Files can be downloaded as an archive (.zip) from the Tutorial Page. To download, click the "Download Project Files" link.
AM I ALLOWED TO USE THE TUTORIAL PROJECT FILES SUCH AS MODELS, IMAGES, OR TEXTURES IN MY COMMERCIAL WORK?
These project files can be used in your personal work as long as credit is given to the Gnomon Workshop, however our project files cannot be used in commercial work.
CAN I PICK UP WHERE I LEFT OFF WATCHING A TUTORIAL?
Yes, click on the "Dashboard" tab under your name on the upper right hand corner and you can see your viewing history there.
DO I GET A CERTIFICATE FOR WATCHING YOUR TUTORIAL?
We do not offer certificates for tutorial completion.
WHAT KIND OF CREDIT CARD DO YOU ACCEPT? CAN I PAY BY CHECK?
For individual customers, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JBC, Discover, and Diners Club. We do not accept PayPal, checks or wire transfers for the payment of individual accounts.
IS MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER SAFE?
Our transaction provider Stripe, employs the latest secure server technology to ensure this information is protected to the highest standards. Encryption is used to safeguard your credit card information and only orders from web browsers that permit communication through Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology are accepted - this means you cannot inadvertently place an order through an unsecured connection. Most web browsers above version three support this security. This encryption makes it virtually impossible for unauthorised parties to read any information that you send us. All orders are then processed by Stripe on computers that are not connected to the Internet.
IS MY INFORMATION KEPT PRIVATE?
The Gnomon Workshop never sells or shares any customer information with any other company. Your e-mail address is required to send order confirmation information, or to alert you if there were any problems with an order.
CAN I ORDER OVER THE PHONE?
For single user licenses, it is best to subscribe online. For studios or academic institutions interested in multi-user subscriptions, The Gnomon Workshop is available to answer questions or process Purchase Orders via phone (866)791-0742 or email: info@thegnomonworkshop.com
CAN I GIVE A SUBSCRIPTION AS A GIFT?
Yes, you can purchase a subscription with your email address then contact us at info@thegnomonworkshop.com to change the log in email to the one you are giving the subscription to.
HOW DO I CHANGE MY SUBSCRIPTION PLAN?
You can change your subscription plan by editing your “SUBSCRIPTION” in the Account Settings.
IF I PURCHASE ANY ONE OF YOUR PLANS, CAN MY FRIEND AND I SHARE LOGINS?
No. Our system is tied to one user per email. If you share your email address your account could be terminated. Please adhere to our Terms and Conditions and understand that purchased items are for personal use only. We have tried to make The Gnomon Workshop a valuable and affordable resource to all, so your cooperation and support are necessary for this resource to grow. Instructors will only be able to justify the time and expense of producing tutorials if they feel that their compensation is fair. Piracy and illegal sharing is anything but fair to our instructors. If interested in group accounts, see the Subscription Library page for more information on multi-user discounts. Piracy and illegal file-sharing is anything but fair to our instructors.
WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?
All sales are final and non-refundable. Please review your order carefully before submitting your final purchase as we do not refund or exchange orders. If you encounter a technical problem with your order we will do our best to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
DO YOU OFFER ACADEMIC PRICING?
We offer bundle discounts for schools that purchase multiple subscription library licenses. See the Subscription Library page for more information on multi-user discounts.

STUDIO LICENSES

HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR A STUDIO EDITION?
To qualify for Studio Edition access you must purchase a minimum of 5 Licenses
WHAT DO I GET WITH THE STUDIO EDITION?
The Studio Edition is designed for a production environment with multiple users. You will get your own subdomain and it comes with usage tracking, user management, team management, license management
HOW DOES PROXY LICENSES USING IP AUTHENTICATION WORK?
Proxy licenses using IP Authentication can only be managed as a block and not as individual licenses. If you are interested in assigning set numbers of licenses to specific IP addresses, Contact Us to build some custom proxy licenses to fit your requirements. Proxy License clients do not need to add or manage user accounts. Only one user account is necessary in this licensing format. To qualify for proxy licenses you must purchase a minimum of 10 Licenses

HOW DO I MANAGE LICENSES?
Once you have some teams created, you can now dedicate specific licenses to specific teams. This is done in the Administer Licenses section by clicking on LICENSING from the account drop down menu.

You will see your active and inactive license in the list at the bottom of the page. If you wish to assign a license to a different group, click on Edit next to the license.

You may have requested some licenses to be grouped into blocks of 5, 10 or more. These licenses will be denoted as 5x, 10x, etc. This will allow you to move licenses between groups in large blocks instead of having to do this individually. You may note that, under License Type, the name of the license is actually a link. By clicking on that link, you may then manage each individual license under that license block.

Proxy licenses using IP Authentication can only be managed as a block and not as individual licenses. If you are interested in assigning set numbers of licenses to specific IP addresses, contact us to build some custom proxy licenses to fit your requirements.

As an institutional client, you will probably never need to renew licenses through the automated system. If you wish to renew licenses through our system, you may do so using a credit card. Please note that the discounted price you received on your initial purchase may not be displayed in your shopping cart. In those cases, please contact a volume sales representative at volumesales@thegnomonworkshop.com for the correct volume pricing.
HOW DO I MANAGE USERS?
There are multiple ways to approach user management under this platform. The most common method is simply for the Company Admin to create users accounts and assign users to teams is to use the user management module.

You will see your active and inactive license in the list at the bottom of the page. If you wish to assign a license to a different group, click on Edit next to the license.

Invite a user:

  1. Click on USERS from the account drop down menu.
  2. Click INVITE NEW USER. Fill out the user information, and click CREATE USER at the bottom of the page. Be sure to select the TEAM you wish the user to be assigned to. You can also select COMPANY ADMIN If you are creating another administrative account.

Upload new users:

  1. Click on USERS from the account drop down menu.
  2. Chose the CSV file to upload
  3. Click UPLOAD

The CSV File must be in this format: email, first name, last name, password, team_a, team_b, ...
Make sure there is no title line in the file.
Files which contain nonlatin characters (ex. ç å) must be in UTF-8, otherwise those chacarcters become question marks.

Larger institutions may not have the staff to create accounts for every user. In these cases, you may choose to let users self-enroll. If you wish users to use the self-enrollment feature, just direct them to your subdomain link https://mysubdomain.thegnomonworkshop.com/registration (replace mysubdomain with your company subdomain). Users will enter their name, last name, password and email address and an email will be sent to the Company Admin(s) of your organization for approval. You may follow the link provided, or simply go to USER page to Authorize the User. Do not forget to also assign the user to a valid TEAM with licenses assigned.

HOW DO I MANAGE TEAMS?

Before you can manage licenses and users effectively, you must first create teams. Teams are used to group users into, as well as attach licenses to. This will allow your organization to dedicate a set number of licenses to a specific team of users, guaranteeing that no other team will use up those licenses. 

To manage your teams or to see what teams you have in place click on TEAMS from the account drop down menu. 

If you wish to add more teams, simply click CREATE NEW TEAM. You do not need to move users into that team during the team setup; however it is as easy as clicking the name of the users you wish to add in the team.

Note: Users can be assigned to multiple teams. While this is not recommended, it will allow a user to use licenses from any team they are assigned. It is recommended that a group is created with no licenses assigned that you can move users into when you wish to take away access without destroying the account record. In these circumstances, they should only be assigned to the inactive group.

HOW TO VIEW THE USAGE HISTORY?

To access Usage History module just click on USAGE HISTORY from the account drop down menu.
You can view every user of your account and all their history, you can select multiple users, single user, proxy users and view all their activity history.

LOGIN AND PASSWORDS

HOW DO I CHANGE MY PASSWORD?
If you wish to change your password, log in to your account and click on Account Settings page
CAN I LOGIN FROM ANY COMPUTER?
Yes, you can log in from any internet-connected computer. However, you can only be logged in to one computer at a time.

WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY FORUM IMAGE CHALLENGE?
Every month we create new 2D and 3D challenges. Winners receive up to 1 Year Gnomon Workshop Subscription.
WHAT CRITERIA ARE USED TO PICK THE WINNER?
The winners are chosen based on our judges' personal criteria, however we often award prizes to artists whose CONCEPTS or IDEAS are excellent, regardless of technical execution. While first place awards tend to bias to a combination of concept AND technical merit, we often choose winners who show POTENTIAL. We love to see new artists emerge, and this is a good way to give artists exposure while rewarding them for their talents.
