Event Description:
The Gnomon Workshop is launching its first ever workshop weekend, November 12-13th, where you will have the opportunity to listen to, learn from, and talk to a stellar line-up of teachers from across the DVD spectrum. This packed weekend offers classes in Concept Design, Matte Painting, 3D Modeling, ZBrush, Character Design, Rendering in Photoshop, Art Directing, Production Design, and more.

Geared toward artists who want an opportunity to learn techniques and processes from the sources themselves, this workshop will help you on your journey to either start or continue in your career in the visual arts. Teachers include Meats Meier, Eric Hanson, Ryan Church, Scott Robertson and more, all of whom have distinguished careers in the visual effects, gaming and concept design industries (and are authors of some pretty great DVDs). Whether you're interested in 2D and/or 3D, or just want to hear great artists talk about their work, Gnomon Workshop: Live! is a feast for the mind. Links to topics and descriptions are to the right.

In addition to these awesome classes, we're also featuring a distinguished lineup of recruiters and art directors to look at your portfolios and answer your questions. Many of these companies are hiring, so make sure you bring resumes and reels if you have them. So far, Stan Winston Studios, NC Soft, Blur, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Digital Domain, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Dreamworks Animation, Disney Circle Seven studios, a division of Walt Disney Feature Animation, Zoic Studios and Feng Zhu Design are confirmed, and we're lining up other super cool folks that we'll announce soon.

Food, Places to Stay and More:
We'll provide light lunch, refreshments and surprises throughout the day. Seating is extremely limited, so please make sure you register really soon.

If you're coming in from out of town, the fabulous and centrally located Roosevelt Hotel has a block of rooms available at a discounted rate of $159/night for the event. Call 323.466.7000 before October 21st and ask for the Gnomon rooms.

The Econo Lodge Hollywood is simple and super inexpensive and within walking distance. It's right around the corner from Gnomon and they're giving a 10 percent discount on their already really low-priced rooms: Single rooms are $69/night; double rooms are $79/night. They're at 777 Vine Street, 323.463.5671. Ask for GT or Carol, and tell them you're coming in for Gnomon.

We'll provide transportation Saturday and Sunday from and to the hotel.
