ARTIST POSTER SERIES


Masters of art and concept design make their work available to the public.

April 13th, 2005 – HOLLYWOOD. In an inspired move today, The Gnomon Workshop released four posters in its new Artist Poster Series.

The Artist Poster Series begins with two images by concept design master Feng Zhu, who created two new pieces, New Empire, and Charge, for this release. The Gnomon Workshop also presents two new works - Four Wire Heads and The Apple - by artist and ZBrush master Meats Meier. The posters, printed on 100lb Centura Gloss paper, are the first in a series of art by Gnomon Workshop Masters.

"Since we started The Gnomon Workshop five years ago, we have strived to bring techniques of great artists to students and professionals around the world," says founder/director Alex Alvarez. "Feng Zhu is one of the industry's greatest concept artists, and he's created seven incredible concept design and technique DVDs for the Gnomon Workshop. Meats Meier, one of the world's foremost artists using ZBrush, is responsible for two highly acclaimed ZBrush DVDs. These posters give the Gnomon Workshop another way to bring work by these great artists to the community."

Artist Bios
Feng studied industrial design at the Art Center College of Design. He has worked on a diverse array of projects, including video games, TV commercials, film design and amusement park rides. Clients include LucasFilm, Disney, Blur Studio, Electronic Arts, GT Interactive, Origin Systems, Microsoft, Film Roman, Universal, Warner Brothers and Sierra. For LucasFilm, Zhu focused on new environments, and hard-surface designs including vehicles, droids and props for Star Wars: Episode III.

Meats Meier is a resident artist and instructor at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects where he teaches the first ever ZBrush course. An award-winning digital artist, Meats has over a decade of experience in a wide range of artistic fields. His past titles include: airbrush artist, lead artist at Beyond Games, a video game studio, and technical director/compositor at the Orphanage on such feature films as Hellboy and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. He also maintains a successful career as an independent artist. Meats' artwork has been featured on the covers of numerous books, magazines, and web sites. Meats was honored with the prestigious "Maya Master" title by Alias at SIGGRAPH 2003.
