While all Gnomon Workshop titles focus on technique, some titles are more specialized than others. These are the titles that have remained at the $69 price.

We hope this price drop helps more artists gain the skills needed to succeed in their careers, as the Gnomon Workshop library continues to grow.

Academic pricing is now available to qualified schools, students and faculty!

Over the past three years at the Gnomon Workshop, our customers have come from a diverse range of fields, both student and professional. But as software prices have dropped, and the entertainment industries have grown, we have seen a dramatic rise in the number of students and educational institutions worldwide that are focused on 3D training.

While professional training comes at a price, we know how tight budgets can be for students who have little to no income. In an effort to make it easier for educational markets to get their hands on professional training material, we have implemented a 29% discount on all Gnomon Workshop products, including our already discounted bundles. With this reduction, our regularly priced DVDs ($69/each) are now $49, while the All-Titles bundle is reduced by over $700!

For detailed information on qualification and ordering, check out the new 'Academic Pricing' page by clicking here.

Eight new titles are now shipping!

We are very excited to have such an excellent suite of new titles for this release. We have continually strived to offer the best ‘technique-driven’ training to the CG community, and we feel that these DVDs are especially pertinant. With six new Maya titles that focus on texturing and rendering, we are addressing the needs of an industry which demands high-quality visual output, produced effectively and efficiently.

In conjunction with our new Maya titles, we have decided to launch a new ‘analog’ component to the Gnomon Workshop. While CG tools have become an indispensible component to today’s entertainment industries, their visual impact lies firmly on a foundation of design, composition and storytelling. John Brown, an industry veteran in the field of character/creature design and sculpture, has spent countless hours producing a pair of extremely informative sculpture DVDs. These new analog titles will help any digital artist who is interested in developing their eye and thought process for organic work. At Gnomon, we have consistantly found that individuals with the strongest traditional skills become the strongest digital artists.

Details are available by following the link below:

Texturing 4: Polygon UV Layout
Texturing 5: Advanced Polygon UV Layout
Rendering 3: Light Effects
Rendering 4: Light Fog

So after a busy month, we are excited to be a couple weeks away from sending out new masters for replication. Eight new titles have been produced by D.Krumweide, A.Orloff, J.Engleman and Gnomon instructor John Brown. More information will be posted sometime in April. The expected release date for this round of DVDs is early-mid May.

January 15th, 2003

For those of you who remeber, when the Gnomon Workshop only had videos, we priced them at $69. We then began releasing DVDs for $79 and the videos dropped to $59. Well, now that the entire library has been upgraded to DVD, and the videos are no more, we are bringing back that magic number!

As of today, all DVDs have been reduced to $69!

While $10 may not seem like a lot, it makes a big difference in the bundles. The 'All Titles' bundle, for example, has dropped by $300!

Alex has also posted a new (free) tutorial on 'Transparency Shadows', as he promised he would in the last one (Controlling Fog Density).

Thank you for your continued support.

January 5th, 2003

With 2002 behind us (and what a busy year it was!) and the DVD conversion/upgrades finished, we are excited to begin a new year! We have many interesting titles in the pipeline, so expect several new titles every quarter!

So to start off the year, and thank everyone for the strong support, we have decided to permanently reduce the prices of our Maya projects and scene files by up to 60%. Happy New Year!
