“Nick has been creating
fantastic designs for the entertainment industry
since he graduated from the Art Center College of Design
in 1990. I always
wondered how he applied a unique form language to a range
of creatures,
vehicles and architecture. These DVDs reveal his inspiring
process,
including some of the Photoshop rendering techniques that
make him one of
the world's top concept artists.”

This demo shows the digital techniques
Nick uses to render a creature that was previously created
in the Originality in Design DVD. The lecture begins by stressing
the importance of maintaining the design language established
in the first phase, and follows this path through the realization
of the creature in a color illustration. All the work is done
in Adobe Photoshop®. Over the course of this demo, Nick
discusses topics such as composition, tangencies, use of photographic
reference, color and mood, as well as image focus.
Over 2 hours of lecture.
