GW: How did you hear about the Gnomon contest? MP: I visited the Gnomon Website and I found a link regarding the contest, so I participated in the contest and I enjoyed it. GW: When you won the challenge, were you a student, professional or hobbyist? MP: When I won in the challenge I was a student. GW: Has your status changed since, and if so what influence did the DVDs have? Where do you study/work and what do you do? MP: Yes my status has changed, I am now a 3D pro. The DVDs had a great influence on me, especially regarding creature creation techniques and how to add more details. The Gnomon Workshop and its DVDs were very important to my professional development and my career to date. At the moment I produce creatures and 3D content (like 3d short animations and others) on demand, from my studio in Italy. GW: Of the titles you won, which do you feel had the biggest impact? MP: The title that had the biggest impact was The Secrets of Organic Modeling by Taron, because both Taron and I work with the same program Lightwave, and I very much liked his subdivision techniques. GW: How important do you feel communities, like the Gnomon Workshop Forum, are to your growth as an artist? MP: I think that all forums are important to grow as an artist because you can admire other creations and put yourself constantly in competition. I find the Gnomon Workshop one of the best forums that I follow because, in my opinion, the quality of work is very high. GW: After viewing the DVDs has your career path changed in a direction you didn't expect? For example, new interest in design, rendering, matte painting, dynamics, etc? MP: Although my career path remains much the same after viewing the DVDs, they helped me to improve my techniques and ways of working. I consider Gnomon to be the best e.learning DVD producers in the world. GW: Any other feedback regarding The Gnomon Workshop or individual DVDs? Are there any specific areas you would like us to cover more? MP: I found lighting techniques and real sculpture technique DVDs to be very interesting and I was impressed with some DVDs concerning matte painting too. GW: What part of the world are you in?
