GW: How did you hear about the Gnomon contest?

IR: From the Gnomon Workshop site itself. I just saw it on your forum.

GW: When you won the challenge, were you a student, professional or hobbyist?

IR: I was a professional.

GW: Has your status changed since, and if so what influence did the DVDs have? Where do you study/work and what do you do?

IR: Of course, I was a 3D Studio Max user and I switched to MAYA because of Dynamics, MEL and Animation. The Gnomon DVDs provided me the most knowledge. This causes me to especially thank The Gnomon Workshop and its instructors and to Alex at the end of my Showreel. I am a 3D Generalist and a compositor working at ODLOvfx, Sri Lanka.

GW: How important do you feel communities, like the Gnomon Workshop Forum, are to your growth as an artist?

IR: For me its the only way I could move with the fellow artist all around the world and gain peer recognition. I'm very eagerly activating myself in the forums and contests because for now its the finest way to improve myself. Gnomon contests and forum has been the biggest source for me so far.

GW: After viewing the DVDs has your career path changed in a direction you didn't expect? For example, new interest in design, rendering, matte painting, dynamics, etc?

IR: Definitely .... I was only a modeling artist before ... but now with the math and programming background from the university I'm eagerly developing myself in the areas of Dynamics and MEL.

GW: Any other feedback regarding The Gnomon Workshop or individual DVDs? Are there any specific areas you would like us to cover more?

IR: For me, Gnomon Workshop is the best. I would do most of its courses if I could afford it. I would like it if you came up with more project based series like "Making of Worms" and some more advanced "MEL" tutorials.
