Daphne Yap
was born in San Jose, California. From the time she
was in preschool she has always immersed herself
in art. After winning various awards
for her art, she realized she didn't want to be limited
to just drawing or painting. Her search for a broader
education led her
to apply to Otis College of Art and Design in Los
Angeles. Although Daphne had been interested in both
fashion and illustration, she
chose toy design as her major. While attending school,
she also interned with McFarland Toys, Mattel and
received the grand prize
in the Sadi International Fashion Design Contest
of 2000. Daphne currently freelances in Los Angeles.
