Oliver
Scholl
German-born
Oliver Scholl was a published artist by age 15, and later studied
industrial design. Inked cross-section drawings of spaceships evolved
over time to full-color work for publishing and advertising agencies
in his home country. Conceptual design work for German director Roland
Emmerich led to Scholl’s transition into the motion picture
industry and his relocation in 1991 to Los Angeles. He is most noted
for the production design of The Time Machine, Godzilla, and Independence
Day (ID4). Scholl also worked as conceptual designer or illustrator
on such feature films as Stargate, Batman Forever, Titan A.E., The
Haunting, Mission to Mars, Artificial Intelligence: A.I., The Polar
Express, and Stealth, as well as several TV pilots. In addition to
doing work for themed entertainment and commercials, Scholl has recently
created cover artwork for over 20 new publications by VPM and Heyne-Random
House, Germany.
